We will walk you through the steps of what you should have in place and guide you hand in hand to the appropriate people that can assist you in getting these done. Such as a will or trust, funeral and ceremonial planning, advanced care planning, Burial guidance, life insurance as well as power of attorney paperwork for all areas that are needed. We will go with you to each appointment if needed and be there to help you understand the process.
We will be with you and help make sure that everyone is on the same page, that all agencies and Doctors that are involved in your care all get the information that is needed so that you get the best consistent care and treatment possible. As well as making sure that you are receiving all the care that you qualify for with the different agencies that are involved in your care.
We can come in to relieve the family members and/or caregivers so that they can take care of their own needs such as getting well-needed rest, going to work or taking care of their immediate family.
I sit with your loved one and listen to what they are feeling to help them work through their anxieties about what they are going through. Provide support and a loving ear with no judgment or expectations.
During this time of COVID, I realize that you may not be able to be with your loved one while they are going through the possible dying process. We can assist you through the process of acceptance of being absent from the bedside by helping you with projects of remembrance. We can do this by working in person or virtually via Zoo. We will be assisting you with ideas and arrangement of items or information, and give ideas on how to have a lasting memory item for you and your loved ones while you work through this time of need.
Looking inside oneself whether you are a spiritual person or not can almost always help you find that sense of internal peace or balance that one seeks in this time of life; as a Doula I can help you explore your beliefs. As you near the end of your life, things will begin to fall away and be out of your control, and often we seek something greater than ourselves to rest upon. This is your time to talk about any ideas or perceptions you have regarding what happens after you die. We welcome and appreciate having profound, honest, and sometimes funny conversations about who we think we are and where we might be headed.
We can aid in creating a plan for the final hours or days in the death process. During this time, we will establish the individual’s wishes for the following concerns: who should be present by the bedside or in the room, music selection that they would like to be playing if any, what type of touch they would like if any, readings (books read or poems they loved), important rituals that add depth, meaning and beauty to any atmosphere. By creating this plan it can enhance the sense of sacredness and closure for you and your loved ones and so much more. The main goal is to make sure the loved one is supported according to what their wishes are.
Once the vigil plan is created with the individual and family, we will be able to implement that plan in the final days and hours of life. We will also assist in communicating that plan to loved ones, as well as sitting bedside as needed with family, or in the place of family, as may be necessary.
We can explore with you all of the options that are available to help make arrangements and decisions that best serve the Loved one’s needs and wishes. We can also aid and help facilitate that plan and/or act as a liaison with other service providers and facilities after death.
We will help the individual and/or family determine and communicate the kind of touch that could possibly be welcomed by a Doula or family and friends. We provide presence at the bedside, light touch, assist with re-positioning of bed-bound patients, and cold compresses if desired. We can help identify, communicate and address issues or concerns that may be affecting your comfort if your family is not present to do so or is uncomfortable asking for assistance.
We will talk with the individual to learn what images, sounds and experiences are the most calming and reassuring to them and then create a personal visualization for them. By doing this, it can promote a sense of well-being that the Doula, individual, and family that they can call upon in the final end of life moments to bring comfort to the dying person. Meditations can be preset in an app or we can make one from the loved one’s favorite music. We can aid the individual in breathing and paying attention to breath in times of anxiety and the need to relax where visualizations and meditations are not working or wanted.
We will come to your wherever you call home to provide an hour of aromatic support, which may include diffusing a relaxing beautiful scent for relaxation, provide a custom herbal blend to hands or feet, the simply use of hydrosols for emotional care and support, we use hand crafted herbal oil infusions which are used as the base for essential oils and more. This service is not a consultation but rather a service to aid the loved one in mind, body, and spiritual care.
This can be up to four visits with your Doula to have an open discussion about the recent death experience that you have had with a loved one; A retelling of their story and how this made you feel. You will have an opportunity to check-in, share and begin reprocessing the event if needed. The grief process begins here for most individuals. After this process you will be guided to a grief group for you to continue working on this process of grief recovery.
This is an individual appointment and will be used to identify the emotions one experiences following a significant loss. Education and information will be shared about essential oils that can provide comfort as well as support to the grieving individual. It is a unique blend for bereavement support and relief through the transitions of loss. This blend will be created with your participation. Appointments range from an hour to 90 minutes. This service can be individualized for each of the family members or constructed for a group. From my experience the blend if one was made for the room of the loved one passing is usually the blend that the family members want over the next few months after the passing, then individual ones are made as the grief process is different for each person.
If you call and want to know a formulation of essential oils that will assist your loved one with their needs whether it be for mind, body, or spirit I can be of service. You can use your own essential oils or I can use mine to formulate and send it to you if you would like.
We are willing to travel if necessary. Let’s sit down and have a conversation on how we can help you stay consistent with the care we provide for you or your loved one, regardless of their location.
Other services and concerns may come up as we work together if you have any questions please do not hesitate to ask if your need is something we can help with. if I cannot, we will be happy to help you find the right services that you are needing or requesting.
